My Thoughts On "The Da Vinci Code"

I just watched the movie "The Da Vinci Code" after renting it from my local library. It was long and a bit dry at times, but had an interesting and somewhat complicated storyline.
.
Tom Hanks did a pretty good job and looked handsome.  He was the highlight in the movie being more of the voice of reason, and I believe actually is what saved this film.
.
The storyline picked up a bit towards the end, and did attempt to strongly imply the notion that Christianity ... or rather the Catholic Church ... was in reality based on a falsehood or cover-up.
.
In one segment could they have left and disrespected the poor, unfortunate, dead and very naked person in the museum any longer? It didn't seem that anyone was in any hurry to do something with him.
.
If a person has a moderate good understanding of scripture, and of some history they could see through this story or shall I say fabrication. There has been much said concerning the subversiveness weaved in this saga which I believe went a long way in selling it, and making it more successful than maybe it should have or could have been.
.
As I was watching this I almost thought I was watching a movie similar to "The Omen" in suspense.  Being a paranormal enthusiast I like stuff like this, but I did find it insidious from a Christian standpoint however which irritated me.
.
Someone who might not be strong in faith, not as read or knowledgeable of scripture, who is not inclined to ask questions, or is skeptical about what the Bible says or teaches could be swayed or taken in by this somewhat luciferian argument.
.
In this kind of argument a person would have trouble being able to distinguish where the truth separates from the deception unless they did a huge amount of research or reading [or had first-person knowledge which no one alive today has] which most people would not bother to do due to time or lack of interest alone.
.
Those who weave these kind of arguments or tales know that.
.
The outcry from a christian standpoint may have been overdone but isn't without basis. If a person is not strong in faith, strong in the word and doubts what to believe as far as what the Bible teaches they should really avoid watching this film.
.
Predominantly films created by Hollywood are not generally accurate or truthful, and are artistic creations geared to make money.  They can generate thought however.
.
But I know that unbelievers, and borderline or worldly believers, will believe what they want or choose to believe.
.
People believed that the "War Of The World's" was reality ... and that was over radio ... ended up causing some mass panic.
.
I like stories about Jesus.  I watched the movie "The Last Temptation Of Christ" which was murky but interesting.
.
I like stories about prophecy.  I liked all three movies of "Left Behind".  In Left Behind I was almost a fan of the tribulation Antichrist Nicolae Carpathia ... Imagine that.  But of course I know better than that.  Nicolae has an entire library of fan videos cross YouTube.  I'm actually a fan of Gordon Curry who played Nicolae rocks though.
.
I like Stephen King's "The Stand", and I'm a fan of "The Omen."  The remake of The Omen was not a good one, and didn't change my mind about not being able to improve on a classic.  I liked "End Of Days" with Arnold, and I liked the TV show "Millenium".  I liked the movie "Stigmata", and am a fan of Gabriel Byrne.  I liked "The Devil's Advocate".  I like Al Pacino.
.
"The Da Vinci Code" is not any different from any of these other movies or shows. A person can decide to believe in any or none of the above.  I find that the movie's of Left Behind, The Omen, or even The Stand more truthful than the film of The Da Vinci Code.
.
The media can be hypnotic.

I want to give an honest review however. I give the movie 2-1/2 stars.
.
I don't feel the need to buy it or add it to my religious library collection.
.
I didn't appreciate the underlying premise of the story, that it denies and sheds doubt on the Divinity of Christ.  I find that the plot is not scripturally accurate which of course I'm not surprised of.
.
I plan to eventually look up some things that I saw in the movie historically wise.  I liked the ending which I thought was cool. The heroine in the movie will probably will never have a boyfriend ever again.  [A sequel maybe in the works?]  The story had me going especially on the baloney.
.
The Da Vinci Code is a murky but interesting pretty good STORY.  My library got a donation for my renting it.  After seeing this film I'm still a fan of Tom Hanks.  I'm not thrilled with Ron Howard however.
.
The Bible teaches to prove all things before believing in something or anything for that matter.  This film is a good example of maybe why it is a good idea to do that.
.
I've adopted a rule of thumb ... if I feel inclined to look up a bunch of stuff in order to prove or disprove something which I find out could take an enormous amount of time, Google searching and reading ... I simply take it as a grain of salt.  I've learned concretely that time bears all things out one way or the other.
.
In conclusion ... The Da Vinci Code ended up being a mouse scurrying across the floor, and nothing really to give too much thought about except for that.
