From CNN's Emily Sherman
(CNN)-The Florida Federation of Republican Women made the decision to boycott the Oprah Winfrey Show Saturday, after the media mogul refused to have Gov. Sarah Palin as a guest on her show until after the election wraps up.
.
"Women in Florida helped build Oprah into the icon she is today," Linda Ivell, President of the FFRW said in a statement. "We are deeply disappointed in Ms. Winfrey's decision to sit out the greatest political moment in the history of women since suffrage."
.
The talk show host denied accusations Friday, that she was even considering the vice presidential nominee as a guest.
.
"At the beginning of this presidential campaign when I decided that I was going to take my first public stance in support of a candidate, I made the decision not to use my show as a plat for any of the candidates," Winfrey wrote in a statement, responding to a story from The Drudge report claiming her staff was "sharply divided" on whether they should book the Alaska Governor.
Winfrey agreed Palin would be a "fantastic interview," but wouldn't invite her on until after the November elections.
.
The Florida Federation of Republican Women, the "largest political organization in Florida," celebrating the groups 58 year anniversary is also encouraging members to cancel subscriptions to O Magazine, Ivell said.
.
"We find it to be an abuse of her power -gained on the backs of our patronage of her advertising empire - to use her program to so blatantly support Obama in the face of this historic moment. So, we are tuning out and canceling our subscriptions to O Magazine and encourage other women to do the same," Ms Ivell said.
.
Winfrey came under fire from some of her supporters in December after campaigning with the Democratic nominee in South Carolina.
.
Ivell did not say the Florida Republicans would be tuning out indefinitely, but at least until 'after the election.' Adding, she and her members respect the decision to support Obama, "as every American is entitled to their personal opinion and vote."

Am I surprised at Oprah's position on this - No. Oprah endorsed Senator Obama - and not Senator Hillary Clinton.
.
Oprah got defensive and angry when people tried to bully her for not supporting Senator Clinton. Now she is being bullied as far as Governor Palin.
.
Oprah clearly cannot be unbiased in this - or to give an unbiased interview. She does not wish - at all - to give any leanings towards Senator McCain positive or negative.
.
She has her guy - and that is it. (Senator Obama is quite GQ.)
.
I don't believe Ellen has even had - or is having Governor Palin on her show either. I haven't heard anything about it.
.
I do watch Ellen - at least for the moment. I find Ellen to be cooler than Oprah, and to be more gracious. I don't plan to write or anything to try and assert that Governor Palin be on her show. If she is able to give an unbiased interview I would like to see her on Ellen's show - but I don't count on it.
.
I KNOW there is clearly opposing views between Oprah - and left (goats) leaning media - and the right.
.
Am I surprised - No.
.
Why are the Florida Federation Of Republican Women actually surprised?
.
It's NOT just Oprah either. Many so-called celebrities are making their opinions known in no uncertain terms. I'm considering starting to avoid "Showbiz Tonight", and I've watched the show for awhile, for their biased left (goat) leaning opinions. I'm starting to find it to be offensive.
.
Glenn Beck is getting somewhat on my nerves as well - but that is not really new. On the other side of the coin - Glenn has not had Senator Obama or Biden interviewed on his show I don't believe. I don't remember seeing them on his show - or Senator Hillary Clinton.
.
SNL did a skit busting on Governor Palin - but they also have been busting on Senator Clinton right along painting her as a shrew. Do I believe this will help or hurt her in her run for office at all - I don't have an answer to that.
.
I realized that this week when I happened to watch an episode of "Christina's Court" and they had a case between Daniel DiCriscio and Bobby Trendy. It was an interesting case too. The point I received from watching this case is that one person's busting on - or possible agenda cloaked into 'humor' is actually more hurtful than I understood it to be. People are laughing yes - but are they being diminished in their eyes at the same time? Will it be difficult to not remember the skit "funnyordie" did on Governor Palin in an american bikini with a rifle? Would this actually help diminish her as a serious candidate for V.P.?
.
I don't have the answer to that either.
.
Do I believe that the intent of those who are producing these skits - to possibly diminish - I can see where that just might be the insidious case at that.
.
But I do have a sense of humor, and will be more mindful of this stuff.
.
Did it hurt Senator Obama with the 'Obama' girl? Crush on Obama did have a catchy tune. I don't see how it actually hurt or helped him. Did he denounce this kind of lascivious stuff? Not that I heard of. But he is a guy though - married too.
.
SNL showed Senator Clinton not being able to stay out of Senator Obama's bed as well. Was this denounced either? Not that I heard of. I saw Senator Clinton on the show several times, and she seemed ok with it.
.
FYI: I actually DO try to avoid watching Saturday Night Live.
.
Did this help Senator Clinton be diminished as a serious candidate?
.
She wasn't picked as Presidential OR Vice Presidential candidate.
.
The media is polarized. But is that new - No.
.
I stopped watching Oprah with her new ager - Anti-Christian leanings - all roads lead to god - and views she has been airing.
.
Can I again point out Anti-Christian leanings.
.
I have not related to Oprah in a very long time. I notice her book club, and I liked certain things she has recommended. (But I also consider her new ager - Anti-Christian - all roads lead to god - leanings when I look at something she may recommend.)
.
Money is a separating - elitist developing - influence.
.
It's ok if she wants to - or any others in the media - only slant things or her show towards liberal leaning - left (goat) pathed stuff and people.
.
I started to avoid her stuff a very long time ago.
.
I am also taking note of the rudeness - am I surprised at the attitude Senator McCain faced on "The View" - No.
.
He gets kudos for going though with me.
.
Barbara Walters sold out awhile ago, and I lost respect for her as far as any kind of serious interview. In other words do I value her opinion anymore - or buy any of her stuff - No.
.
I still regard Whoopie Goldberg a bit, and liked a few things she has to say. But does she motivate me to watch "The View - even with Elizabeth Hasslebeck - No.
.
If they somehow convinced Donald Trump - along with Whoopie Goldberg and Elizabeth Hasslebeck - to be on the show THEN I might watch.
.
The main reason I do not watch "The View" is AntiChristian tone and Catholic Bashing. I do not mostly like Rosie O'Donnell - and avoid her - the same goes for Joy Behar who I have no clue as to who she even is or what she does.
.
The middle to left path (goats) and the people who are on the middle to right cannot agree on stuff - and never the twain will meet.
.
I like Governor Palin a lot, and liked Senator McCain's thinking as far as this.
.
To the Florida Federation Of Republican Women - It is unAmerican to bully someone to do something they DO NOT wish to do. You most likely already know that.
.
But I support your American RIGHT to call for a boycott - which is the one reason I am posting this info about it.
.
What it really comes down to is what or who you really believe in, trust or have faith in.
.
If you lost belief in Oprah, her judgment, and you don't feel she reflects your core views or values - then don't buy her stuff or tune into her show - and maybe speak out about it so others know as well. If the boycott is only a political ploy - only to end or fade after the election - and then only go back to business as usual then it's contrived and most likely hypocritical.
.
Consider the fact that maybe it is BETTER that Governor Palin NOT be on Oprah's show - which has my moderate to conservative vote. When she is Madam Vice President (!!!) she can remember to diss Ms. Winfrey. (But she is most likely I know to be more gracious than that.)
